I have tomatos started already (here in the frozen northeast) and plan to put them out very early this year. I found something new I want to try Wall-o-waters Due to a lack of sun I am limited to container gardening so I can move them to get enough sun. You who live in the Sunny South West and can garden year round really make me jealous !

Beloved Spouse just bought a plant a week ago. I'm going to be planting seeds too soon. I container garden too, don't have very much room.

This thing is supposed to capture the warmth during the day and help warm the soil, and then on a cold night it is supposed to release the heat.
For the very early, frost season, you only fill it about 3/4 full and the the top is bent over kind of like a teepee.
AS mild as your winters are you could probably start tomatos in January with these.
I'll let you know how they work out.
I grow mostly in 5 gallon buckets and I have a sturdy tomato tower attached to the bucket, so even when the plants get big it is easy to cover them with a plastic bag on cold nights.
Of course you are close to fresh veggies almost year round there, and I am jealous. But not jealous enough to deal with the traffic !

Do you know the tiny grape tomatoes? They’re really good too. We planted one in the BOTTOM of a pot, through the drain hole. That was fun having all those tiny grapes hanging down from the bottom of the pot. I planted some flowers in the top part. It was just a fun thing to do, hung in front of the house. The neighbors were amused and liked it. Gardening is one of my favorite things to do.
